Typed transcripts of Elderkin's cadet letters to his family, 1856-1861; letters to his family written just after graduation including a letter announcing his marriage to Frances Gurley of Washington, D.C.; letter to Honorable Noble Strong Elderkin from his daughter-in-law Fanny; letter from Reverand Gurley to daughter Fanny and son-in-law William, 1863; letter from William to Noble Strong Elderkin describing his tour of duty as director Indian Subsistance, 13 August 1869. The collection also includes two published works by William A. Elderkin: "Queen of the Sahara", 1889 and "Ritual of the ancient order of Hercules": Cincinnati, 1888.
